Chapter 1: I Am Not Human; I Am A Mechanism

The whispers purred like a wind chime, echoing back and forth over and over. Soft hushes crowded the eyes, as fingers could be felt grimacing the skin of the eye lids, dropping them down, the smile from the other that crept up their face now banishing only to be consumed by darkness.
Shhh, was all that could be accustomed to the ears, a quickening shock sent through the nervous system or to be more precise; fear struck the human. The spine tingled, lips tightening, the tooth harshly driving into it. feeling the cold damp embrace of flesh, pale and rigid against the body. The toes curled in reaction to this. Oh, what's a girl to do? I've got nothing left to lose.
Quickening assumptions now flashed in the mind of the child, a recalling of memories, a twisting plot. The room was cold in temperature, but the heat of the bodies emerged a soft clash. Vermilion streaks now seeped from the flesh.
Ravid chants pelt the face, enduring in the personal space. A slap now crossed her face, followed by numerous insults by the other. The shh she had heard only moments ago was misinterpreted, it was truly said as 'Shut Up' with the follow up of the smack. Why, was she forced into such a predicament? Had she done wrong? No, merely made a small, avoidable error, yet her creator opposed this with disdain and displeasure. Her lips now trembled, this could not be stopped, this abuse she took, it was merely for her own good. Her creation after all, was, to be a tool in the eyes of her father. Nothing more, and nothing less. The pain ceased to ease, as the hit was followed up by yet another, only now directed to the abdomen forcing her to be caught off balance, crashing into the wall located behind her. Oh how sorrowful this man was, how much hate many had for him, but to still remain loyal, after all this torture, she still remained by his side. She followed in his shadows he cast down upon her with simplicity and shame. And what did she have to offer? Only her body and mind. Such a thing may become a burden, for the way he acted let alone it was still, sticks and stones when it came to her well being, easily repairable. To say such madness, a father abusing his daughter let alone she still remained by his side? Some may claim as absurd. The stomach churned as she felt his foot deepen in her stomach, scrunching itself until she let out a cry of pain, easing his feelings. The man loosened up seeing her discomfort and abiding by such yelps, finally retracting his foot and begun to walk away, disgusted by her appearance and outcome.
"Stupid girl...Get up and let's go." he said clearly as the words now traveled clearly to her ears. He was unsatisfied. The pain indulged her gut ever so deeply yet she ignored such a pain and removed herself from her podium, and wearily, followed behind.
"Yes Master." and so, the benevolent girl we all knew so well, remained to follow in the footsteps of a mad man.

Chapter 2: Soul Reapers Are Fond Of Humans

The dim lights flickered on, as the light now ceased to be consumed by darkness, revealing the rooms true appearance. Steps now tapped the concrete floor, no rugs, all, flat. Such a workspace was required, if an experiment was to be dropped, the floor could not consume it, correct? A material must be set in order for the mess to be cleaned up, not to make it worse, not to mention stains, greatly angering such a person, or any person for that matter, not to mention when having to see it most every day, such a bothersome thing indeed. This room was a very specific one, one that contained the necessary equipment for science to be bred and imagination to run freely, one that would allow the brain to discover new things, let creations be made, letting them do as they please, in the name of interests.

"Nemu, get over here. Now." the man barked, as the girl quickly scurried to his side, as a finger was raised by him, pointing at a table located in the center of the room, a figure of some sort placed upon it with straps holding it down; a human. Indents had been made on the skull, a large massive one directly onto the forehead, another hole digging directly into the rectum. Various slashes gouged into the skin, leaving various marks.

"You have failed to dispose of this human! One of the few who have died while in the process of dissection. How disturbing. It even reeks, you've left it out for too long. Get it out of here, fetch me a new one. This time a female, the males seem to die quicker now a days. You know the necessity they must have in order to be my test subject. Now leave."

Finishing up his words, his fingers trickled down his face in a tiresome yet annoyed kind of way, unable to contradict how this idiocy keeps happening, at least to him. Oh how he loathed his days, depending on the situation of course. Some days had been better than others, but often to which point they were impossible to even bare. The girl quickly fled the room, knowing exactly what he was in search for.

In due time, the female arrived within the world of the living, not wearing casual clothing as did the people around here, but found herself in the same outfit as worn in Soul Society. Knowing she would only be here for a short time, there was no requirement for a new set of accessories, in and out, could be best described.

Now, the issue was finding the perfect guinea pig without disappointing her father. There were plenty of choices to choose from, the world was filled with both genders, but to find a particular one suiting his interest well now, that made it a tad bit more complicated. Rummaging a hand across the nape of her neck, she rubbed, feeling a little irritated but at the same time knew her duty, and should not let herself become so easily tired. Now, to set out for the search.

"What is taking that child so long!" Mayuri banged a fist on the desk beside him, careful not to hit the keyboard in front of him that may cause severe damage to the system.

"Captain, it has only been a half hour." protested Akon, standing behind his chair, scanning over some papers on the desk, shuffling them into stacks accordingly. "I'm sure she shall return soon. Not to mention humans tend to be more stubborn, she may have to fight in order to obtain one of them."

"It's a female, they're more prone to obeying, and less likely to put up a fight, unless she runs into one who happens to be very stubborn, which may in fact cause some difficulties. Still, none the less, I created her to be efficient, this, is not efficient, it's too slow for my liking."

Akon merely shook his head in disapproval, but simply kept his mouth shut, careful not to insult the Captain.

Moments later after much complaints escaping the scientists list, Akon having no choice but to try and calm him down, Nemu walked into the room carrying a woman over her shoulder, looking to be passed out. The female wore a black T-shirt with words inscribed on it as well as designs which in the human world would be called "A Band T-shirt". For bottoms were simple jeans, as her brown straightened hair draped over her eyes as her body swayed while being carried. Her age, she looked to be around fifteen or so.

"About time." the arrogant mans intentions were almost to beat his daughter, but restrained from doing so as he turned around in his chair, looking at the two. Akon looked for a brief moment, then got back to work knowing slacking off would only get him in even more trouble, despite the fact he had known Mayuri for a very long time. Nemu shuffled over to the table in which the body before had now been removed, placing the girl on it, strapping her feet and hands, tightly fastening the leather so she may not escape. Slowly awakening, the girls optic hues gazed up at the ceiling, the light shinning in her eyes, revealing the color to be bright blue when in the light. Regaining her composure, she fixed her position moving around, only to notice her restraints, being shackled to metal bedding, as she lifted her head, eyes roaming.

"Where hell am I?" she blurted out, finding herself to be in a bit of panic, yet calm at the same time, acting some what cool and collected, a mixture of both. "Who are you?" her eyes narrowed to get a better glimpse, as the lights fixture upon her shone too bright for her to make out anything, only vivid colors. A quick glimpse of a figure approached her until she found her head slammed back down against the metal, a hand set upon her forehead holding her down. She gasped in reaction, eyes shot shut, giving her a few seconds to recover, only to re-open her eyes to see something very un-human glaring back down at her. A monster, maybe? No, it had to be human, she thought to herself, finding her thoughts jumbled by panic and curiosity.

"M-Mayuri?" her eyes squinted more, as her eyes now adjusted, now revealing the true person and it's full figure, not just blurred colors anymore. He looked to be in a bit of shock to the fact of her response, to so easily remember his name to his face, was marvelous.

"Mayuri-Sama, have you experimented on her before?" Nemu asked, looking at him with her hands held together resting in front of her, showing no emotion, yet portrayed it in her speech. Mayuri did not respond, just looked at the girl while a moment of silence trailed on. Akon found himself interested, which hadn't occurred to him until now as he found himself with no papers in his hands but arms folded, watching the scene that had been going on behind him.

"How are you even-" the scientist cut himself off, now gritting his teeth, contemplating deeply on the matter. He didn't feel like responding to neither of the girls questions, just simply stare at the brunette as she stared back at him, awaiting a response.

"How am I even alive, you mean? You look much different than when I remembered you…Still the same snotty attitude though."

"You've changed." he quickly said back, without even giving it a second thought to blurt something out deliberately. A smile crept up her face, as he backed away a little, but still not enough to show fear, as he stuck his ground firm, a fist curling, teeth tightening.

"You can't be human…That's not possible, how in the hell-" he stopped himself, rubbing a hand over his face, thinking of what could possibly be happening. Thinking this thouroughly through was a best option, for him to even analyze his hypothesis.

"You look almost the same, slightly different characteristics though…I remember you were taller. Lanna."

The girl laughed a little, finding this to be amusing in some twisted way.

"That is not my name anymore. In this world, I have been given a different one. But, I haven't been called Lanna since my life in this world…Of yours that is, which I no longer belong too."

"Your supposed to be dead." he got angrier by the second, but held back any will he had in him to hurt or beat her as he did Nemu frequently when doing something wrong. Akon now approached the scene, finding himself next to his Captains side, looking down at the girl, both eyes looking at one another fiercly.

"Captain. There's no doubt she does look like her. But if my memory serves me right, I remember clearly you killed her, which would be odd if having her soul sent to the human world. I'm not quite sure that's possible."

"But it is. I'm here now, aren't I? Just very odd that your new pet found me, out of all people. Out searching for more test subjects as usual, I presume?"

"She's not really my pet. She's my creation, and my daughter."

The female laughed at this, now turning her attention away from Akon to look back at Mayuri, with great satisfaction found in the gleam of her eyes.

"So, after you killed me then you must have found someone to replace myself and got yourself a little prize, huh?"

"I said creation, as in I created her from a test tube. You should know me well enough to figure that out."

"Apparently not." she retorted, now laying her head back to relax, eyes closed with that same amusing smile plastered upon her lips. Oh what joy filled her, and irritation filled him.

"So, I haven't really been replaced then, in a way…" she now turned her head to take a look at Nemu, who stared back at her, still not fully understanding the case at point. "Well that's good to know, I suppose." the supposed Lanna looked back over to the two men. "Why not untie me, so I don't begin to have neck problems just by talking." she smirked. Nemu looked over to Mayuri for permission as he nodded his head in approval. The girl obeyed as she hurried over to the girl known as Lanna, unfastening the holds that kept her down, as she sat up, rubbing her wrists then grinned.

"Now then," she began "As I was saying, even if she is your 'Creation', I seem to find a Lieutenant patch on her arm. Which clearly use to be mine. I now wonder, was she made to replace my position? Or was she created for some purpose to the extent the original was never created yet. If you catch my drift…She was the child you never had, in a sort of sense."

Akon knew where this was going as he saw the furry in the other mans eyes, quickly ushering himself and Nemu out of the Lab and into the hallway. Closing the door behind him, of course, he couldn't resist but not to press an ear to the door, trying to pick up any sound possible, but knew it would fail since these doors were sound proof for a reason-to keep noises locked in there as to not disturb other people efficient work. Finding this an 'epic fail' he now escorted Nemu and himself down the hallway, and some place else.

"You know why I had to kill you Lanna!" Mayuri yelled at her, now infuriated with the girl who even dare stood up to him, as most would be way to scared to ever do such a thing, or they may get themselves surely killed. "Your so frustrating! You seem to not understand the logic and purpose of why I even did it."

"I know exactly why," she jumped off the metal holder, now in front of him, looking up as he was only a couple feel taller, but not by much. If measured correctly, she may be about the same height as the Hitsugaya kid, meaning there wasn't too big a different of measurement between the two genders. "You killed me, because I walked in on you operating on my parents! Something no one was suppose to see, especially me. That's why you kept the sign on the door that said 'Anyone who enters dies' on it. You had to kill me before I killed you…That was how it worked. Congratulations, you accomplished killing me."

He now reached and grabbed for her arm, as she pulled away, not letting him dare touch her. He caught on, knowing what hate must have boiled in her veins for him, how much she loathed him because of that one mistake.

"I still lo-"

"Shut up!" she yelled making him jump a little, but still kept his balance. As much of a heartless person people made him out to be he did care, he did have feelings, at this moment he wanted to show her his true feelings, show her it wasn't all based off that one incident. He needed to comfort her for the sin he did, yet knew well enough that it would only inflict more damage if doing so.

"Don't even say it. I know you don't. And you never did. You don't think it was hard enough living in human form, we'll it was worse here, I can tell you that. I'll admit, for how much I was treated by you, it wasn't as you may say fun, but I put up with it. I cared, for only you. And no longer do I anymore. I'm glad you killed me, at least now you have someone else to hang around with." she tsk'ed at the sight of him and turned to leave until he began speaking again as she stopped when making it to the door to listen to him.

"The reason people think I am so mean, is because I have become cold hearted…Because of the regret from killing you. I never was an abuser, my anger got the best of me. I've begun taking my rage out on Nemu even, on all my division. I've changed since you've been gone. Don't you think it's hard enough for me to admit all this? I must care a lot if I'm even to admit my true feelings!"

"Heh." Lanna smiled, placing a hand on the door as her fingers crept to the door knob, as he was sure she was going to leave, until her hand slid off of it and she turned around to face the fiend.

"Your right. You never told me your feelings, let alone show them. I wonder even if this is the real you? We were together after all, but still I was treated as if some other person, never was I brought close, yet I still cared. Which by your explanation, it's hard to believe you care, since you've never shown any sign of it. Mayuri, tell me now, do you admit it…?"

He knew clearly well the words he needed to say, but was he man enough to say them? Could he sink as low as to the affectionate people and truly say such blunt words? His vocabulary was well enough high, and to truly admit what was on his mind, he knew she would understand every word, but wasn't the exact words she was looking for. She now approached him, as they were half an inch apart, her blue eyes starring into his gold ones, awaiting an answer.

"Well."

A moment of silence. He was too afraid, she assumed, as this nonsense had gone on long enough. He would never say it, she knew in her head. She knew him far too well, he would never tell anyone his feelings, not even her. His true intentions shall never be shown to anyone, only kept to himself for always. Finding disgust in him, she made her way back over to the door, until he spoke softly.

"I love you."

A smile then appeared on her face, as he finally admitted it after so long.

Chapter 3:

“What are they saying?!” pleaded Akon, stomping a foot down eager to know the conversation going on between the two in the room next to them. Since his captain and the girl had been occupying the main laboratory, the only room closest to it was the operation room. Nemu kept her collected posture, hands held together in front of her, standing up straight and no sight of slacking. If at all she could truly fit to be a model.
“3rd seat, it is not in my programming to ask such absurd questions but I do wonder, what is Mayuri-Taicho’s relationship with that girl in there?” she asked obviously curious. Never before had the two of them crossed paths, and to accuse Nemu of replacing her, it must have meant she was the former Vice-Captain before her, or something along those lines. Akon had known who the girl was, it was when he was a young boy had his Captain met her, of course some may say being that young of age they could not recall their memory, yet he had, very distinctively in fact.
Akon then brought up one of the rolling chairs scooted under a desk, pulling it out as he sat on it, Nemu doing the same.
“Well, assuming my conclusion on the theory has failed me, some how she has managed to be once again reincarnated into the human world. Originally, once a human dies, they’re soul either passes on into the after life, or remains in the in between; Soul Society. If you are killed during this time, originally you are suppose to successfully pass over without fail. Though if this is the case, she must have been reincarnated so suddenly. Do you follow?” Akon saw Nemu gulp nervously but gave off a slight nod indicating she did. He then continued as he got more comfortable in his seat adjusting it correctly.
“Now then,” he went on “Before you were created, it had been appointed the time the Captain had only recently been let out of the maggots nest by Urahara.” he then stopped seeing the expression on Nemu’s face, she seemed to have never heard of this before from her ‘Father’.
“Another time I’ll explain it.” he said putting that topic off, continuing on with the main subject. “Anyways…Once Urahara had been…well I shouldn’t need to explain that either.” he stopped again thinking of a good place to start without having to bring up anymore questions that didn’t relate to the topic. “Let’s just say when he was appointed captain. Any who, there was an order of rank. Kisuke, then Mayuri came second, and Lanna, then there was me. When Kisuke was out of the picture the line moved up appointing him to Captain Kurotsuchi, and Lanna was then made as his lieutenant. Nobody really knew much about her since she didn’t like to talk to a whole lot of the squad members. She sort of looked on them as “Idiots” and her genius could pass them by far. But the way she saw it had nothing to with the kind of smart as in mathmatics and technology, it was dealing with how people acted, whether the decisions they made were immature, if they smile at stupid things, some people even accused her of being a stereotype. Just nobody really knew he…”
Nemu then stood up putting her hand firmly on the table next to her. Her eyes began to grow intimidated, as if this wasn’t leading her to the point that she wanted to know of, but she did have patience as she was programmed. By this reaction she wondered if her body was going into a malfunction…Or were these just her feelings kicking in? Akon rested a hand on her shoulder to calm her as she sat back down, her eyes gazing at the ground, this showing her apology for acting out of place. She knew he would not hit her for acting out as such, so she was grateful.
“The first time he began to notice her was when they both entered in combat with one of the enemies. One of the more insane humans somehow was able to see us Shinigami and followed closely behind when one of them had been exiting the human world. Before following the man, he had just recently broke out of a mental hospital and well, he wasn’t all fully normal…So when entering Soul Society…He spot his first prey, and that was of course Lanna…”

----------------------------------------------------------------

He had her cornered against the door, he breaths raspy and her spine tingling. He had just admitted the truth but to so eagerly do this was unlike him, he claimed he never showed his feelings but here he was, his feelings being shown right in front of her very eyes. One cold hand held her waist, the other at the bottom of her jaw bone, looking her directly in the eyes. He seemed so different, so much more dominant and angry, his whole attitude seemed this way since she had been here. He fumbled his words, he became confused, all he could do to get rid of those feelings were to get angry, that was his solution to it all. He then lowered his head as he breathed on the nip of her neck, a cynical smile creeping up on his face with pleasure.
“I want you back.” was all he could say, trying to hold in his urges. The mad scientist, showing his emotions? Ha, only to her, no one else dare would he let know. If word got out, then more people would be ‘Friendly’ with him, and he didn’t like that one bit. He was a secluded person and liked to keep it that way, just like she did…

----------------------------------------------------------------

“What did he do?” Nemu asked anxiously, the story was getting really good, she knew most of it would have to be about the girl and not her father but it was still nice to know more about him since he gave her little Intel. Akon frowned since it was slightly sad at first.
“I think we can both conclude what he tried to do to her…”
“O-Oh.” Nemu said fiddling with her fingers understanding what he was referring to; rape. “So did he try and save her?” she asked another question hoping that he would say yes and that it would lead to him being some what of a hero that no one ever made him out to be.
“Not exactly. Because she saved herself, that’s what fascinated him…For the time that she had been working under him never had he seen her Zanpakuto once. She was forced to defend herself against the pervert. Lanna’s sword is more unique then others which interested him so much. Her sword is her hatred. Whenever she is angry, that’s when the sword becomes even stronger. She can still use it when she’s not angry, but it basically feeds off of her emotions…Her sadness, pain, that’s why it’s said a Zanpakuto is apart of the user’s soul. They are said to be one. She is the good side, and the sword is the bad…”
Nemu had never heard something like this before, it was truly interesting indeed! Of all the Bankai’s the other Captains and shinigami had, even after hearing about hers it interested her far more than the others. There was a computer as well in the operation room as Nemu walked over to look up Lanna’s name in the data base to learn more, but there was no files on it. Taicho must have deleted them all erasing her from his memories so he was not burdened with the pain any longer. Akon laughed to himself seeing her sudden interest. “Shall I move onto the captain in the story for you?” instantly her ears perked up from his words as she quickly got back into her seat to continue with the story. He then remembered where he left off.
“Well either way, she ended up half way killing him until Mayuri some how stopped her rage from getting out of control. For once he thought he found some one similar to him, and he felt bad for the incident she had to deal with. So he then asked her on a date. If I remember right I was one of the very few people he considered to be his friend, and he was all happy and excited about it. For once it seemed like he had a heart.” Akon then concluded the story as he crossed her hands and smiled, proud of himself for remembering something like that from many years ago since his memory didn’t serve him as proper as it use to. After hearing the last part, a small pink smear spread across the girls face. She seemed happy to hear the story, as if she was only a little bit closer to her father, knowing more about him that maybe, just maybe they could have something new to talk about between them, just father to daughter…

Chapter 4: Wolves, Snakes, and Foxes

“Always at a loss of words when I’m around huh?” The girl smirked and then placed a hand on the captains chest to move him back giving her some space. He refused to let her escape so easily, she was back in his clutches, there was no denying it was her. His golden eyes pierced at her with lust, his urges hard to hard to control. Could he truly restrain himself? He wondered how far she could push his limits, after all she was very good when it came to persuasion.
“You speak so vulnerably. Do you forget who I am already? Do not speak so freely in my presence. You’re a mere human, my reitsa could crush you if I wished it.” The senile man sneered and pressed his hand behind her on the wall getting into her face waiting to hear what she had to say to such devious words.
“But you wouldn’t…” Lanna chuckled looking back at him, “Unless you think your so strong that you can.” She was immediately cut off with her eyes widening arching her head sideways as he began to nip at her jaw line making her blush.
“Kukuku, I think it is you who is at a loss of words. Dear me, you are so easy to break.”
Lanna grinned and pushed him off as he backed up raising an eye brow seeing her now becoming defensive, but she was always so petite, despite her inner strength some may be unaware of that was even there. She was fragile, as if his mere touch could break her, he needed to be careful not to get too overwhelmed. Mayuri then stepped back raising his hands up innocently showing his apologies. She didn’t cave in.
“Let’s go take a walk.” She changed subject knowing he was going to lose it if she didn’t escape the situation soon as she slipped out the door and out of sight down the hallway.
She walked with her hands in her pants pocket as her purple lanyard hung from her left pocket and in the other ear phones hung halfway out swinging back and forth with each step. Her brown hair covered half her right eye as she scanned the hallways passing by the other shinigami in the division. Some even widened their eyes, as if seeing a ghost as she passed. Others paid no attention to her passing, being newer. She smiled to herself, once again walking down the halls of the Research and Development bureau, it was bringing back memories. Things must have changed a ton since she was gone, things looked the same but the people here were different. While walking the Captain caught up from behind grabbing her hand to turn her around, but reluctantly she pulled away and stuck out her tongue to him.
“Oh, better be careful. Don’t want to ruin your reputation around here.”
Before Mayuri could respond she turned back around and kept walking until she met the main doors exiting the building out into the fresh air. The suns gleam shinned upon her face, giving her the feeling of warmth and security. It was beautiful out here, just the sky itself, the birds passing over above her.
“Its just as I remembered it…In the summer. The sun would always be at the highest peak of the mountain. I forget the two worlds we live in are different.” She laughed to herself feeling like an idiot. How absurd, she was letting this get to her head as if she was Lanna again, but she wasn’t. That wasn’t even her name. Speaking of which she never told him her real name, did he even want to know? Did he even realize they were two completely different people? She then held out her hand to the Captain giving off a sweet smile of showing manors and being polite.
“My name’s Kaylee…it’s nice to meet you, again.”
He then took her hand and shook it firmly, he had rough hands after all considering he experimented on things. It was funny though, how it was a small ‘world’ after all. How was she even suppose to remember her life as a soul reaper, it was vise versa, either way you die from one world or the other, your not suppose to have memory of your previous life. She’s not suppose to even be here.
“C’mon let’s go!” Kaylee urged him and ran up ahead into the streets but then bumped into a very large figure about three times her size. Gulping nervously her head tilted upwards to see who it was. Her eyes widened upon seeing a familiar face.
“Captain!” Immediately arms were flung around the captain of squad seven as even her small arms extended would never reach around his whole body. “How have you been! It’s been awhile hasn’t it Captain Foxy!”
Captain Komamaru looked down at the small girl compared to him, his animal like pupils scanning her figure until he could conclude who she was. The answer didn’t come to him, unfortunately. Until at the end when she called him that name, then it hit him like a tornado. In the past the two of them use to be good friends, for the reason that Kaylee’s Zanpakuto when in Bankai state became a wolf, was of some interest to the Captain.
On the other hand, her Bankai was rarely shown for it would get out of control easily.
The fox noticed the cynical man standing behind the benevolent girl then looked back at her, he knew Captain Kurotsuchi had gotten to her first. As some hadn’t known he held a grudge against the scientist after he murdered Lanna, and he never forgave him, but kept those thoughts to himself and never out spoke them straight to his face.
“Lanna. How are you alive? I thought you were dead all these years. Or were you just in hiding? You must tell me everything, we have to catch up.”
“Be patient I just got here!” She poked him then crossed her arms smirking. “Sides…I don’t know how long I’ll be here. Depends on how long he keeps me as his ‘test subject’ since that’s how I got here in the first place evidently.”
Komamaru shook his head understandingly, so many things were wrong with that statement that he could have accused the other man for but kept his comments to himself. His eyes moved back to the man, not really liking him all to much but he had to put up with him when it came to the Captain meetings.
“May I take her off your hands for an hour? I have much to say to her.” Komamaru couldn’t believe it himself, but he was asking for permission from the scientist to have time to himself alone with one of his test subjects. It was ridiculous. If he wasn’t the man he was, Komamaru would have immediately taken her away from his sight and not let his greedy hands touch her hoping not another fatal incident would happen like her murder.
Mayuri was also shocked himself to hear such a request, even coming from him of all people. He looked to his beloved Lanna, not sure if he should trust him with her. But, it was only for an hour, what could possibly go wrong?

“Ah!!” Kaylee slammed her glass down clenching her fists tightly on the table, her cheeks rosy pink from the alcohol intake. They went out for drinks. Even if she only looked like a young girl, all he had to say was it was the previous lieutenant 100 years ago and surely she’ll pass as old enough, as far as hoping they recognized her first.
“I haven’t drank since I lived here. In the human world you have to be over 21 to get into bars and drink. These two places are so different. It just keeps crossing my mind.” She twirled her finger around the rim of the small glass, Komamaru could see she was in a bit of a daze remembering her past. She must have been lonely by the looks of it, he recognized that gleam in the corner of her eye of sadness. He then placed a hand on her shoulder for reassurance.
“Do not fret so much on the past. It will only drag you down.” Taking the bottle he guzzled half the bottle since he was more of a heavy weight unlike her. “The past has been dragging me down in fact.”
Kaylee raised a brow lifting up her head from the table. “How?”
“A close friend of mine was murdered by a man she trusted her life with, and I can not forgive that. These years have passed as have lived with such burdens. It has happened twice now. Kanema, he’s gone. Along with you. I didn’t know what to think, feel betrayed, feel lost. I had mixed emotions. I could not let the past break me so easy.” Placing his hand from her shoulder now onto her head he scuffled her hair messing it up, receiving a pouting look and folded arms.
“I do not want you near that man for your own safety. As your close friends, I would never forgive myself ever again if he was to harm you once more. I forbid you from having any contact with Mayuri Kurotsuchi.”

Chapter 5: Explanations Can Anger The Dead

An angry body came back through the twelfth division, startling the two shinigami who had been keeping themselves contained of their interests spiraling, leaving them at a bit of shock as to why the Captain looked so agitated. Akon peaked his head from the wall on the other side of the hallway after the Captain had passed them, watching him storm off in the other direction paying no care to if anyone saw him angry or not. Nemu gave a worried look on her face as to why he was upset, had the other girl done something that infuriated him, or did he simply make a mistake in his words that made him slip up.

"Taich-" Before Akon could finish his own word let alone sentence, the man turned only to hold up his hand at his third seat, charging a miasma in his hand and shot it directly at the horned headed male. Barely dodging it by an inch, a few strands of hair were stripped from his head, but nothing majorly important or life threatening. Kurotsuchi's face was angry, and did not want to be spoken to by the likes of any of his subordinates. Knowing him, Akon was sure he wasn't purposely trying to kill him, but more as a warning, and was thankful that his captain had some heart to spare him even in this state of mind. Nemu couldn't say she was frightened, though shared her fathers emotions and pain, almost understanding him without knowing the situation. Even had she tried to assist, it would only reduce her to minced body parts ripped and torn from his rage, had she wished this to lighten his mood, possibly, but the look in his eyes said no to even that. She felt even as a machine, her duties that she was created for was coming to an end even now.

Storming off, the cynical man reached his room as he shut the door, leaning against it as his head dropped down to look at the floor. Why had he given her up so easily to that fox? He dissected plenty of animals in his time, he knew of course how they were tricksters, they're ways and habits, how they took their prey. During the years of her time alive, he recalled a memory of when Sajin found out about his and Lanna's relationship. Little had anyone known in fact, to his dismay, Sajin was the only one against the matter. He was a close friend of hers and wanted only the best. From the very start he felt guilty from when Mayuri had kidnapped Lanna from the human world, only later in years for her to become his lieutenant and then his wife. Sajin proclaimed that she was his mutt, he was her captor, always dragging her around whenever he felt lonely, but when he didn't want the company left her behind. The captain made Mayuri out to be a sadist in fact, claiming it was possible his loneliness got the best of him and needed a companion there just to pass over the time. Was this all true? Mayuri couldn't even figure out, he sought out an answer, his judgment must have been misguided. He thought, he knew he loved her. But had he in reality really treated her so badly? Komamura never saw how much love he gave her in private, how much care and happiness he brought to her face, that fox had no idea how complete he made her. Unless, it was all a lie? No, Lanna wouldn't lie to him, would she?

His head began to throb, as he rubbed his forehead from the intense pressure surging to his temples, the migraine worsening. He believed it, he believed in their bond, but he wondered, if she ever did…

----------------------------------------------------------------

"….Hahahahaha!" She broke into a fit of laughter after what Captain Komamura had said and took another long gulp of her alcoholic beverage then looked at him, but saw his face dead serious. Her humor went down the drain as she too now realized this wasn't at all a joke. "Oh crap" She thought to herself. Being drunk it was hard to be serious, she was always more in a happy mood instead of serious.

"…What are you talking about?" Trying to buckle down, Kaylee sunk to his own level instead of high up on loopy stage and more toned down a notch.

His animal eyes showed sorrow now, he was trying to take this seriously, he was one to express his emotions when he too was drunk.

"I just don't think he treats you right…Look at what happened…Where has your pride gone that I knew you had so long ago? Has that faded along with your death? What has become of you since then, he's broken you to a peak. He's not afraid to hurt you. Why do you stay with something like that?"

She felt a sad wave rush over her as he said these things, she was happy but her mood was totally obliterated by now. Also for the reason she called him "that" made her feel like she was being insulted not just him. She had trusted Sajin and his opinions as one of her close friends, but when he insulted her love like this she couldn't help but get defensive. Her fists tightened from anger, she wanted to punch him for saying such a mean thing and bringing up her past and death, but as a friend she couldn't bring herself to do it. Komamura continued talking as he went on with his lecture.

"He doesn't care, I've watched over the years as they've flown by, you're his little pet. Have you lost your own self respect, Lanna? I know deep down your wolf instincts kick in, you can't deny those feelings either. He wont ever see that side of you freely, he can't handle it without hurting you. If you were to go mad as you have in the past, he shows no love or protection, only stops you like the beast you make yourself out to be. Your blind!"

"Shut up!" Kaylee yelled, her sadness always was toppled over by anger, that's how she hid it. She didn't like to be sad, she hated to be sad, being sad felt so alone…But being mad, it felt like she stuck up for herself, like she wasn't just a weakling. Her blue eyes raised to look into his own yellow beady ones, as their gaze met. He could see how uneasy she felt, he had her blood pumping, most knew that was a bad thing when it happened.

"I don't care what you people see on the outside! It's a "Secret" so of course we're not going to act the same around others…I chose to be treated this way, I don't want him to lose his position as Captain. I could care less if I was disowned as a Vice-Captain and executed for it, I don't want bad to come of him. Do you get it? You know NOTHING!" She stood up from her seat now losing it as her fist comes swinging around. For the reason Komamura was so much taller than her and for how short she was compared to him, her attack would only land onto his gut.

As her first swung towards him, he did nothing to prevent it, knowing he deserved this. Though as he was bracing himself to take the blow, he received none, wondering what happened to the punch.

Kaylee's eyes were wide when a hand had stopped her own bare fist. If one only knew her strength they would not throw themselves out there like that, but only some one of a Captain's level, equal of her own strength could withstand such a blow and retain it, holding it in place.

"Oh no…This is not a pretty sight, layin yer hands on him? He's a nice guy, why would you want to hit him?" Came a coy, smooth voice from beside her. It was recognizable, but she couldn't place the face until she looked for herself. It was Captain Ichimaru, a face she hadn't seen for an even longer amount of time than the last time she saw Komamura.

Gin assumed she was a local shinigami in the pub taking offense to him, but that wasn't it at all, even when Kaylee moved her face to see him, as did he, and they both knew one another off the bat but were surprised to see one another.

"Gin?"

"Lanna?"

"Well aint this a sight to see. I thought you were long gone. Rumors spread that you abandoned that creeper."

"He's not a creeper, only you make him out to be."

"Oh not at all! His face just looks scary is all, I have little against him, you know that." He gave a shy smile but was obviously faking it to act innocent. She could care less to play with his little games at the moment.

Kaylee lowered her fist as Gin released his grip. She simply sighed, knowing things were getting out of hand, even in a local place like this, she made a tiny scene, enough to attract the guy who never stops smiling.

Running a hand through her hair she sat back down trying to simmer down. As she had sat down Komamura stood up, as he put some money down on the table to pay for the both of them then gave her one last look and smile before he left the place.

"I suppose it was mistake for loving you, and getting jealous of him. I'm sorry for upsetting you, I only wanted what was best and saw him as a threat…But if he truly makes you happy, I cannot get involved. All I can do is watch from the sidelines and be the support that holds you up, mark my words…I will no longer get in between. If by chance he does screw up again…I will come after you, and win that battle." And with that he said nothing else as he exited the bar.

Gin gave a smile watching him leave as he waved.

"Bye Bye!"
